project brief: Freiburg Hospital in renovating and want to add an interactive project specifically targeting young adults, to make the hospital environment more friendly and make the stay for patients and their companions more pleasant.
project roles:
Ideation
Digital and physical prototyping and testing
My approach
I used various motion sensors, including a regular sliding door sensor and a Phidget motion sensor, along with p5.js, to demonstrate the idea. The final version was created in Unity. We also developed a way to control the video wall remotely.
Concerns
We decided against using a motion capture camera to protect patient privacy. Additionally, we preferred an interaction method that doesn't require physical contact, like pushing a button, for hygiene reasons.
Challenges
Position the sensor for the right "activation zone" and prevent "unwanted interactions" by setting the correct sensitivity. Learn how the sensor works for one or more users.
TEst 1 - p5.js and balls instead of birds
I tested the reaction range and activation range, also multiple user situation test at this stage.
Test2 - the bird flock system.
We teste the “bird-flocking” system in which the objects fly in flocks and come back to their starting point.
